Regulatory bodies in the media industry
BBFC
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) was founded in 1912 as the "British Board of Film Censors". It is responsible for the classification and censorship of films in the UK. Although it is independent from the government films must be submitted to the BBFC for classification before they can legally be sold in the UK. The BBFC charges per minute of film classified making limited releases of films very expensive for low-budget filmmakers.
The BBFC may cut films when they think it includes "content which might raise harm risks" in order to "protect the public, and especially children".

Discrimination
Racism
Dylan Marron has a series on YouTube in which he takes acclaimed films and makes supercuts of every line of dialogue spoken by an ethnic minority. The results are shocking. For example, Moonrise Kingdom, one of my favourite Wes Anderson films, contains a paltry three lines spoken by one character (the musical Into the Woods contains none whatsoever, spoken or sung). The Oscars are another place where racial discrimination is apparent. Only 6.4% of acting nominations between 1928 and 2015 have gone to non-white actors. In 2014 and 2015 all nominated actors where white. Sexism According to the MPAA, women made up over half of moviegoers in 2015, however their representation on screen and behind the camera does not reflect this. For example, in the top 100 films of 2016, only 32% of speaking characters were women and, of the top 1000 films released between 2007 and 2016, only 44 were directed by women. There have also been many notable cases and allegations of women in the media industry facing discrimination and harassment from their male colleagues (e.g. recent Best Actor Oscar winner, Casey Affleck). |

TIME MANAGEMENT/ORGANISATION
I'm pretty terrible at both of these, I'm writing this about three weeks after the deadline that I was supposed to submit it by.
PRESENTATION SKILLS
I don't do presentations a lot so it's hard to say how well I'd fare in this respect.
CREATIVITY
I am quite creative, I'm able to find new approaches whilst editing.
ROLE SKILLS (EDITING, DESIGN, WRITING ETC.)
I enjoy writing and editing. I think I'm quite good at editing. I know when to cut and how to pace scenes.
SOFTWARE PRODUCTS / EQUIPMENT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE
I'm quite good with non-linear editors like Adobe Premiere. I know where to look for tutorials if there's anything I don't understand.
THE WAY YOU CARRY YOURSELF (TATTOOS, HAIR STYLES, FASHION)
I know how to dress myself appropriately for interviews etc. . I don't plan on getting any tattoos but I doubt that they're really a problem for employers anymore unless you get a swastika tattooed on your forehead.
ISSUES YOU WILL ENCOUNTER (BEING FEMALE, MALE, OF ETHNIC HERITAGE, DISABLED, MENTAL DISABILITY ETC. (YOU WILL NEED TO TALK ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU MAY BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST - IF AT ALL)
I have dyspraxia and anxiety which can make certain tasks hard such as presentation. Increasingly, companies expect employees to have "soft skills" which essentially means they discriminate against people with these kinds of problems but there's not really anything I can do about that.
